Queer PDX

Your guide to queer Portland from the people at CC Slaughters: where to go, who to know, where to find support, and the history that got us here.

Our Commitment

Portland Is Queer. Let's Keep Building It.

CC Slaughters opened its doors in 1981, and for nearly 45 years, we've been a home for Portland's queer community β€” a place where cowboys and drag queens, friends and strangers, and generations of LGBTQIA+ Portlanders have come together under one roof.

In 2025, we came close to closing our doors for good. Portland showed us this place still matters. New owners stepped up, the doors stayed open, and our commitment to this community only grew stronger.

Because CC Slaughters has never been just a bar. It's a dance floor, a gathering place, and, as our longtime House Drag-MC Bolivia Carmichaels puts it, “a safe space for all who enter.” That remains our promise.

Whatever your sexuality, gender identity or expression, race, body, background, or kink β€” you deserve to feel welcome, respected, and free to be yourself here. Come as you are. Love who you love. Express yourself however feels right. There's room on this dance floor for you.

"CC Slaughters is a staple of our community, a safe space for all who enter." β€” Bolivia Carmichaels, House Drag-MC for over 20 years

Our Future Is Queer

We believe Portland is at its best when our community shows up for one another. That means supporting queer-owned businesses, celebrating every part of our LGBTQIA+ community, creating spaces where people can actually connect, and making sure Portland stays proudly, visibly, unapologetically queer.

Nearly 45 years brought us here. Now let's build what comes next β€” together.

Find Even More Queer-Owned PDX

Our directory is a start, not the whole map. Everywhere Is Queer is a free app built to help LGBTQ+ people and allies find and support queer-owned businesses wherever they go. Download it, drop a pin on your favorite Portland spots, and keep discovering more of the community beyond this page.
