Text Message Terms

Last updated October 6, 2026.

Text updates aren't being offered at the moment. The list is by email only for now. What's written here about text messages applies if and when we offer them.

These terms cover CC Slaughters Portland text updates: the text messages you can sign up for with “Join the List” on this website.

What you’re signing up for

Recurring marketing text messages from CC Slaughters Portland (219 NW Davis St, Portland, OR 97209) about what’s on at the club: events, shows, specials, and occasional picks from Portland’s queer community. Messages are sent using automated technology.

How to join

  1. Enter your mobile number under “Join the List” on this site, tick “Text (SMS)”, confirm your date of birth, and tick the box agreeing to receive texts.
  2. We send a text asking you to confirm. Reply JOIN (or open the link in it). You are not on the list until you do. If it doesn’t arrive you can ask for it again; we send it at most three times in a week.

Agreeing to receive texts is not a condition of any purchase or of entry to the club.

How often

Message frequency varies with what’s on. Updates are sent only between 8am and 8pm Pacific time, and never more than three in any 24 hours. Texts that answer something done on this site or sent to us (the request to confirm, the welcome, the link to manage your subscription, a reply to HELP) are not counted in those three. The request to confirm, the welcome and replies are sent straight away, whatever the hour; the link to manage your subscription is sent only between 8am and 8pm.

Cost

Message and data rates may apply, depending on your mobile plan. We don’t charge for the messages.

How to stop

Reply STOP to any message to cancel. You’ll get one last text confirming it, and then no more updates. Saying it in your own words (“please stop”, “unsubscribe me”) usually works as well; STOP always does. You can also unsubscribe from Manage Your Subscription.

To come back after replying STOP, text START to the number our texts come from. Signing up again on this site is not enough by itself after a STOP, because the block on your number stays in place until you send START.

Help

Reply HELP to any message for help, or use our contact form. Nobody reads other replies to this number, so please don’t use it to reach us.

Who can join

You must be 21 or older and have a United States mobile number. The number must be yours, or one you are authorized to sign up. If you change your number, reply STOP from the old one first, or let us know.

Delivery

Mobile carriers are not liable for delayed or undelivered messages. Delivery depends on your carrier and coverage, and messages may not be available on every carrier.

Privacy

We do not sell or share your mobile number or your consent to receive texts with third parties for marketing purposes. See our Privacy Policy.

Changes

If these terms change we will post the new version here with a new date.
